Supply of amino acids in parenteral nutrition of patients w/ severe liver insufficiency & imminent or manifest hepatic encephalopathy.
IV infusion 7-10 mL/kg body wt/day up to 15 mL/kg body wt/day.
Disorders of amino acid metabolism other than of hepatic origin. Circulatory shock. Acidosis. Hyperhydration, hypokalaemia & hyponatraemia.
Amino acid therapy is not a substitute for established therapeutic measures in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy. Renal insufficiency. Increased serum osmolarity.
